In my opinion Incubus is so unique that they didn't really influence music that much because no one else tried to match their sound, it'd be too much of an obvious ripoff. Overall I think the band deserves a little more credit, but their music - especially their earlier stuff - is very niche and very experimental, so there's not really a mainstream market for it - therefore I see why they didn't get much mainstream recognition as a band. but I think Incubus came first (fact check). It gave them a sound that basically no other alternative / rock band had at the time, except for maybe P.O.D. One of the coolest things about Incubus was their inclusion of a live scratch DJ in the band. Here is a video of the band performing live. It came out to be some really cool stuff. He also went through some really unique and crazy chord progressions, and totally blew them out with a range of pedals and amp effects. he employed all types of technology back in the early 2000s that most guitarists weren't using in the way he did, totally on the fly, and very spacey / conceptual. The singer is obviously very solid, but the guitarist is incredibly underrated himself. Although they're still active, their prime was in the late early 2000s with Morning View and A Crow Left of the Murder I think this is one of the most underrated and overlooked bands in modern music history.
